Student Activities

Salem Middle School offers a variety of activities including clubs, intramural sports, and interscholastic sports. Students are made aware of the tryout/participation dates through announcements at school, the calendar, and they are also listed in our school planner. Mr. Sparling, our Student Activities Coordinator, works very hard to ensure that our students' needs are met throughout the year. If you are interested in trying out/joining any of our sports or clubs please listen for announcements or see him in the Student Activities Office.

Intramurals occur Monday - Thursday after school. The activity for intramurals is on the announcements daily. All students are invited to come participate in intramural sports. The activity bus for intramurals leaves at 6:00 PM sharp.

SMS hosts several school dances. Admittance to dances is a wristband. All dance wristbands are sold at school and students must have a signed permission slip and money on the day of dance wristband sales in order to participate. Wristbands are water proof and must remain attached from purchase time until after the dance. Only SMS students may attend. If a student is absent on dance wristband sales day, he or she may see Mr. Sparling the morning after the absence.

Every student at Salem Middle is issued a School ID Card after pictures are taken. Students should carry their ID cards with them. It is the same card they will use in order to check out books from the LMC. Additional ID Cards can be purchased through our Student Activities Coordinator, Mr. Sparling.

A completed VBCPS physical form is required in order to play sports. Physicals are required for all athletic teams. Sports Physicals are offered at school for the cost of $25 (cash only).
